Maintenance Manager

Melior is recruiting an experienced Maintenance Manager for an international production company in the region of Brussels. As Maintenance Manager you are responsible for all operational performances (SHE, quality, service, cost and people) of the maintenance department and you will implement the continuous improvement program towards operational excellence. In this role you are part of the management team, with budget responsibility and a direct reporting line to the Plant manager.

Core responsibilities:

 People Management:

  • Select, recruit and retain the team members
  • Coach direct reports to enable them to fulfil their role to their maximum potential and fill the talent pipeline
  • Create a good working environment
  • Ensure that the competency level of the team is continuously improved by providing the necessary (internal and external) training
  • Ensure back-up for each departmental task

Maintenance Management:

  • Set-up of the Maintenance Budget, including outsourced activities, with the aim of progressive but continuous cost optimization
  • The organisation of maintenance in the most effective and efficient manner, (internal) customer oriented, with the aim of optimizing the assets and the total lifecycle cost
  • Full compliance of department to all applicable legal regulations and international food safety standards : HACCP, PRP, BRC, allergens and others
  • Optimal alignment of maintenance with the indicated production and asset strategy, the logistics planning and the production planning
  • The effective and efficient balancing of maintenance supply and demand in the medium and long term
  • Monitoring the facilities and staff on the shop floor together with the technicians
  • Ensuring the availability of all necessary spare parts in the most economical way
  • Managing the automation architecture of the whole production site
  • Monitoring the energy and water consumptions in a proactive way, taking all necessary initiatives to progressively reduce them
  • Responsible for the life cycle, asset & risk management of all utilities & facilities related equipment
  • Responsible for the calibration activities on production equipment on critical weigh systems, temperature & flow measurements
  • Maintenance management in SAP


Profile requirements:

  • Technical Master degree
  • At least 7 years of maintenance experience in a comparable production environment and at least 3 years of managerial experience
  • Result-oriented leader with vision, critical for yourself and for others, capable of being a role model
  • Knowledge of preventive & predictive maintenance techniques is a must
  • Experience in a Food or Pharma context is considered a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in English in combination with Dutch or French
  • Good knowledge of data processing (SAP, Excel)
